Also known as Minton, this land has beautiful scenery and views of Lake Massawippi. A Neo-Gothic style church built in 1894 is also worthy of mention.
Quickly the development of the village was associated with vacations. Although in the beginning (1798), agriculture, woodcutting and potash production represented the bases of the economy, the beauty of this corner of the Eastern Townships quickly motivated tourists to make it a choice destination.
This little municipality also goes under the name of Katevale. The church (1881) and its rectory occupy a predominant place in the center of the village. It is possible to see a superb triptych here (work of the painter Christine Carrière).
This village was an important center of the region around 1820. There was a potash and whisky business here. Around 1874, the village lost its importance to the benefit of North Hatley. Its rural appearance is an open invitation to appreciate the country scenery.
