Member-artist of Creatio Centre d’artistes, Etienne Saint-Amant is a professional artist in visual arts and media arts. In addition, he is a researcher in brain medical imaging and cerebral magnetic resonance, under the direction of Professor Maxime Descoteaux, University of Sherbrooke. In 2010, the artist participated in the Shanghai World Expo in collaboration with the Cirque du Soleil and Patrimoine Canada au Pavillon du Canada in Shanghai, in China.
In the exhibition "Origines", the townships artist explores issues arising from two phenomena related to the concept of chaos. The first is to observe a situation apparently stable appearance that eventually degenerates into a very disorganized state, seemingly random and unstructured. The second is the opposite: there is a very disorganized state of things and we are witnessing the creation of a structure and order growing and evolving in its properties and capabilities. We will call the first: destruction, death, degeneration when we qualify the second of creation, birth, evolution and miracle. The chaos would be the transitional space that connects these oppositions.
"Are we creatures from chaos? Is it possible to use the changing nature of chaos as the origin of creation?"
"The works are created from the merger of mathematics and my talent as an artist and scientist. I want to present pure and simple works breathing to the rhythm of nature."
The series "Architextura"comes from a study on crystal growth and architectural structures. Urban style, straight or mineral works invites you to dive in and around its many intricacies. The series of "Mitoses" results of a study on the evolution of simple structures to a more mature and organic, representing the beginnings of life. The work "Va" is a large composition representing a mathematical nature so advanced that it becomes a landscape that is both simple and grandiose.
