2. Citrouilles et Tournesols

Citrouilles et Tournesols celebrates the Flambée des couleurs in Orford. Our natural and colorful scenery offers one of the most beautiful views in the region of Mount Orford. Come walk our enchanting scenic route of 1.5 kilometers bordered with varieties of pumpkins, sunflowers and squashes. It will awake your senses. The whole family can participate in the lively and educational visit. The little ones can also play in different playgrounds along plantations. A great outdoor activity is waiting for you: family fun, relaxation, colors, beauty, health and awakening the senses.

3. Mont Orford ski resort

A. Go aboard on the hybrid gondola and take advantage of a circuit constituted by five belvederes and pedestrian paths at the top of the Mount Orford, including access to Sentier des Crêtes.

-          Cost: $10.25 (adult), $8 (6 to 13 year-old children) and$26.25 (2 adults + 2 children), taxes included

B. Discover the artists and craftsmen of the region during the exhibition and sales of items and products in the main lodge of the Mont Orford ski resort.

-          Activity name: Craft Exhibition

-          Dates: September 25, 26 and on October 2, 3, 9, 10 and 11, 2010

-          Time: 11 am to 4:30 pm

-          Cost: free

C. Ski Bazaar organized by the Ski Club of Mont Orford. Buy and sale used articles of ski or snowboard, every weekend of the Flambée des couleurs.


4. Cherry River’s village: the entry and the heart of Orford

Between Magog and Mont Orford, an attractive village with loyalists roots awaits you. Get off the car and take a fresh outdoor break.

Historical circuit and enchanting landscapes
Visit the halt of the Cherry River for its tranquility, its bandstand and the sweet sound of running river. Take a snack in good company at a picnic table or at one of the terraces of the village. Up the hill to Courtemanche bridge to reach the belvedere in front of the cemetery of the first arrivals. The view of Cherry River and the valley is breathtaking.

Trails, cycle path and adventure
Part of La Montagnarde which is listed on the Route Verte, the cycle path runs around the village and goes to the parc national du Mont-Orford. There, you have more than seven kilometers through the rugged but beautiful landscapes in the natural park (streams and woodlands). If you happen to be at chemin Alfred-Desrochers, it leads to the north of Orford where you will discover attractive lakeshores. You’ll find plenty of parking lots at the city hall.

Entertainment and arts to discover
Several cultural events are in preparation in the village for the weekends of the Flambée des couleurs. They will be announced soon.

 

5. Downtown Magog

For a treat, eating or entertainment, downtown Magog is a must during the festivities of the Flambée des couleurs. With about thirty restaurants and  numerous shops, it is an invitation to discover flavors and colors. The arts fans will be delighted when outdoor exhibitions of visual artists will be held at the Parc des Braves. Finally, you have an opportunity to discover more about Memphré, the mythical monster, by participating to the thematic tour « Sur les traces de Memphré» .

6. Marais de la Rivière aux Cerises

The marais de la rivière aux Cerises is in the heart of Magog. With your pal, family or with your dog (on leash), you can walk 6 kilometers of trails and discover different ecosystems. In addition to the trails, an observation tower, a covered picnic area and the longest bridge on stilts of Quebec, you can well appreciate what the Marais offers in this beautiful season filled with colors. The trails are fully marked and disabled people can choose a path suited to their abilities. It’s easy to access to the trails and there’s a free municipal parking by Du Moulin street, in Magog.

7. Trolley

To go from one activity to another and to explore regional attractions, take the trolley. $5 per person, $10 per family, free for children under 12 years old and the ticket is valid for the whole day, from 10 am to 6 pm. See map for directions (in orange) and breakpoints (in red).

8. Cycle path

To see closer our beautiful autumn landscapes, use our cycle path La Montagnarde. It is part of the Route verte classified « best cycle path in the world »  by National Geographic Society.

For directions, get free cycling map at Memphremagog Tourist Information Office located on 55 Cabana Street in Magog. You can also visit the website www.tourisme-memphremagog.com.

« La vie secrete du marais de la rivière aux Cerises»

Win two passes for a kayak tour with a naturalist guide or two passes to visit the new center of Lamrac in summer 2011. Plus, you get a chance to see your photo, if selected,  displayed on the website of Lamrac, the website of the city of Magog and showned at the opening of the future center of the marais de la rivière aux Cerises.

How to proceed? Drop your photos at Jacques Courtemanche, photographer, located on 80 Main Street West, until 5 pm Friday, October 15, 2010.
